Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference on Saturday said that it will continue with its just, peaceful, democratic and legal struggle for the restoration of the rights of the people of J&K.

This was, according to the NC spokesperson, stated by the party’s South Zone President Dr. Bashir Ahmed Veeri, while presiding over a meeting of District Presidents of Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian Constituency in charge, District Committee Pulwama at the party office in Pulwama. Member of Parliament from South Kashmir Anantnag Parliamentary constituency was the chief guest on the occasion.

MP Anantnag Justice (Retd.) Hasnain Masoodi was the chief guest on the occasion. State Spokesperson and In charge Kulgam Imran Nabi Dar, District Presidents Gh Mohiudin Mir, Ab Majeed Larmi, Showkat Hussain, VP Province Syed Tauqeer, Shabir Kulley, party leaders Peer Mohammad Hussain, Riyaz Khan, Mohammad Khalil Bandh, AR Tantray, DDC members Master Abdul Aziz, Mukhtar Bandh were also present.

Interacting with the party functionaries, Veeri said that it was claimed that Article 370 was the biggest hurdle in the restoration of peace and normalcy in Jammu and Kashmir. “But three years have passed since, and we do not see any development, any peace prevailing. There is no visage of good governance in Kashmir, South Kashmir districts in particular,” he added.

Continuing his tirade against the ruling BJP, he said they were speaking about massive industrialization but the reality on the ground is completely different. “Not a new industry has come here over the past four years. Our own handicrafts and other small-scale industries are on the verge of collapse. The governance is confined to photo-ops and shoddy propaganda,” he said adding, “There is no space for any voice, critical of the government’s action. Our DDC members and functionaries are confined to their places. Silence has been achieved on all dissent.”

In his address, Hasnain Masoodi said, “Articles 370, 35-A were the manifestation of the solemn commitments made by New Delhi to the people of J&K. The unilateral decisions have added to the long prevailing political instability and alienation in the region besides violating the spirit of federalism in the country.”

The party rank and file, Masoodi said, stand behind the party president and vice president in their ongoing efforts for the protection of the identity of Jammu and Kashmir. “Article 370 is the point of faith for our party. We will not allow BJP and its B teams to erode our political and cultural identity. Nothing can rescue BJP and its local proxies. People will teach them a lesson in the elections, whenever they are held. People across JK have made it a point to register as voters and punish BJP and its B teams democratically through ballot,” he added.

Calling the delimitation commission report travesty of the principle of one man one vote, Masoodi said, the people of Kashmir will defeat the sinister objectives of the BJP. “Having failed to change the ground realities through biased delimitation, BJP and its B teams are trying to grab power through the back door,” he added.
