Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference State President Shameema Firdous on Friday said that women have to share critical responsibilities in the protection of J&K’s unique identity and vital interests.

This she, according to the spokesperson, said while presiding over a one-day provincial convention of women’s wing functionaries at Nawa-e-Subha Srinagar.

Among others Party’s Provincial women’s wing President, Kashmir Er. Sabiya Qadri also addressed the functionaries that thronged the party’s headquarters Nawa-e-Subha, Srinagar from across the Kashmir division.

Exhorting the functionaries, Shameema Firdous said, “It is a do-or-die situation. Women constitute half of our population. There is no reason why this vital chunk should not come forward to share their critical responsibilities. Our mothers and sisters have historically depicted great feats of courage and determination by standing up for their rights.”

“It goes without saying that our mothers and sisters have been the worst suffers of the discrimination and depravity resulting from the August 5, 2019 measures. The upcoming elections, whenever they are held, provide an opportunity to reverse it,” she said.

In her address to women’s functionaries, Sabiya Qadri said that anti-Kashmir forces are conniving to place a malleable regime in JK through back doors to attest to their August 5, 2019 decisions. “Such an unrelated and unrepresentative legislature will not reflect the true aspirations of our diverse sections of people. In such circumstances, our mothers cannot sit on their hands. They have to come forth and register themselves for voting and subsequently vote in huge numbers. This is how we can send real representative voices to the legislature,” she said.
