My Youth My Pride sports activities reach Gool in Ramban; Ramnagar in Udhampur

JAMMU: With the weather turning pleasant, the sports activities under My Youth My Pride flagship programme of the Sports Council resumed across the union territory of J&K.

A tug of war competition was organized at Islamia Faridia Higher Secondary School Kishtwar in which four teams fielded by different schools participated. The participants were really excited to be part of the event. The students from adjoining schools were present to support the participating teams.

The principal of the host school, Naimul Haq was the chief guest on the occasion. While interacting with students and participants, he said that such events are welcome and that the Islamia School administration is glad that J&K Sports Council nominated them as partners for the event.

In the other events organized in the district, the final of the volleyball championship was played between Malli Path Volleyball Club and Matta Volleyball Club which was won by the former in a very tough contest.

All the matches were held under the supervision of Satpal Singh Manager KK Hakku Stadium, Sandeep Singh Jamwal Kho-Kho Mentor, and Rohit Chohan Yoga Mentor.

Meanwhile, a Kabaddi tournament was organized in the Gool area of district Ramban. Seven teams drawn from schools and clubs are participating in the championship. The Principal Government Higher Secondary School Gool, Mohammad Rafi was the chief guest on the occasion.

The sports activities shall also reach other far-flung areas of district Ramban and competitions in Taekwondo, Boxing, Volleyball, Yoga, and other games shall also be held.

All the events in Ramban are being supervised by Ajay Gupta, who is head of the district organizing committee assisted by other committee members including Anil Gupta Yoga Instructor, and Arvind Satti.

A badminton championship is being organized under a similar programme in Rajouri. The event is being hosted in Indoor Hall Sports Stadium, Rajouri in which more than thirty players in the youth category are participating.

Shafeeq Malik Chief Accounts Officer, Government Medical College and Hospital Rajouri was the chief guest on the occasion. The chief guest encouraged all present to pursue sports seriously “as it can be a good career option if we excel in our respective fields”.

A large number of spectators were present at the venue. The event is being organized under the supervision of Iqbal Sing, Manager Rajouri stadium.

A Badminton tournament was conducted at Indoor Stadium Ramnagar in district Udhampur. Around seventy players along with ten match officials are part of the event.

Gopal Singh SDM Ramnagar presided over the function as chief guest and Rishi Kumar, Lecturer YSS was the guest of honour. The matches were officiated by Vishal Modi and Vinod Kumar Sharma.

The entire event was supervised by Naveen Sharma, Manager Subash Stadium Udhampur along with his team of Vikas Dogra Judo Coach, Ricky Kumar, and Ankit Sharma.

In the meantime, the Kabaddi Championship commenced in Kathua, today. The event was inaugurated by Raghunandan Singh Bablu, Vice Chairman of the District Development Council. The chief guest encouraged players to work hard and do well in their respective fields and stay away from drugs and other antisocial activities.

A total of twenty teams are participating in the championship.

A gymnastic event was also organized in sports stadium Kathua in which thirty gymnasts from different panchayats of the district participated in rhythmic and artistic categories. Bhupinder Raj, Councilor Kathua was chief guest on the occasion.

A Chess competition was also organized in Gurah Salathia of district Samba.

Arti Gupta, Principal Higher Secondary School Gurah Salathia was the chief guest on the occasion. Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest highlighted the benefits of sports and also appreciated the efforts of the Sports Council to spread its reach to the remotest parts of the union territory.

She also thanked Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gull for bringing sports activities to Gurah Slathia.

The activities in the district are being monitored by the Sports Council team led by S.P. Singh Manager M. A. Stadium, Jammu.

Fixtures for similar activities in other areas were also drawn and activities scheduled to be organized next month are also finalized.
