Strategic Strikers Division organizes high-altitude cycling expedition

Srinagar: On the occasion of 196th Gunners’ Day and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, a high-altitude cycling expedition was undertaken by troops of the Strategic Strikers Division on behalf of the Regiment of Artillery.

“A team of one officer and seven other ranks led by Colonel Sripada Sriram, commenced the expedition from Rezang La War Memorial on September 15, 2022 and completed successfully in Dras war memorial on September 21, 2022,” said PRO (Defence), Srinagar.

“The expedition covered a total distance of approximately 538 kilometers in seven days over the rough & challenging terrain of Eastern Ladakh. The route went over two passes – Fotu La and Namika La and major places touched upon along the route were Nyoma, Karu, Nurla, Kargil, and Dras,” the PRO said.

“This cycling expedition stands as a testimony to the unwavering spirit of the Gunners and has also acted as an impetus to fuel the spirit of adventure amongst the troops,” he said.
