Volleyball tournament concludes at KU; GDC Ganderbal lifts trophy

Srinagar: The inter-university volleyball tournament concluded at the University of Kashmir on Tuesday.

The tournament was organised by the varsity’s Directorate of Physical Education and Sports (DPES).

37 teams from degree colleges of Kashmir participated in the tournament. The final match was played between GDC Ganderbal and GDC Anantnag whereat GDC Ganderbal defeated GDC Anantnag in 03 straight sets.

The award-distribution ceremony was attended by Prof Adil Amin Kak, Dean School of Arts, Languages, and Literature, and Mashkoor Ahmad Zargar (JKPS) SP Hazratbal, besides students, faculty, and other officials of DPES.

Coordinator DPES Dr Musavir gave an overview of the sports activities and tournaments in the pipeline.

Prof Adil and Mr. Maskoor underscored the need to tap the sports skills of students with an aim to make a mark at national and international levels. They congratulated the finalist teams.

The tournament was coordinated by Muneer Alam, the volleyball coach of the University.
