Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Conference Sr. Vice President and former Minister, Abdul Gani Vakil, today said that the Peoples Conference will always fight to ensure equitable development of all the regions of Jammu and Kashmir and will work towards strengthening the bonds of unity and brotherhood amongst the people of J&K.

Vakil while addressing a gathering of party workers in Jammu today urged the Central government to initiate confidence-building measures to end the widening wedge between the people here and the administration. He was accompanied by PC Eidgah Constituency Head Irfan Mattoo and PC leader Mohanlal Radha.

Vakil further highlighted that in order to regain people’s trust and win back their hearts, the central government must restore statehood for Jammu and Kashmir, release political prisoners, regularise casual workers and daily wagers and generate employment opportunities for the youth of J&K so they can flourish in an otherwise crisis-ridden place.

GoI must end the prevalent bureaucratic raj and allow the popular government to be elected without delay, Vakil added.

Addressing the gathering, Irfan Matoo said PC is committed to creating spaces for youth to participate and be a part of the decision-making for their future. Active and meaningful participation of the youth is imperative to address the challenges that have an impact on them and their future.

Meanwhile, PC Leader Mohan Lal Radha said that Peoples Conference will emerge to become the strongest voice of the people of J&K. He alleged that the Lt Governor lead administration has failed on all fronts and there is a need to restore democracy in J&K.
