‘My Youth My Pride’: Thang-Ta championship concludes at Srinagar

SRINAGAR: The District Srinagar Thang-Ta championship concluded today at Thang-Ta Hall, Bakshi Stadium here.

The championship sponsored by J&K Sports Council was organized by District Srinagar Thang-Ta Association in collaboration with J&K Thang-Ta Association. More than 300 players participated in the championship.

Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Chief Accounts Officer, Sports Council presided over the closing ceremony as the chief guest and Jahangir Ahmad Mir, Public Relation Officer Sports Council was the guest of honour on the occasion.

While addressing the gathering, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal said that the Sports Council’s special initiative of ‘My Youth My Pride’ is aimed at the inclusive growth of all the athletes and the Council has embarked on the mission to reach out to every nook and corner of the union territory to tap the talent and groom them under the tutelage of specialists in the field.

Meanwhile, J&K Sports Council in association with J&K Body Building Association is organizing the first of its kind “Chinab Valley BodyBuilding Competition” on the 24th and 25th of September 2022 in district Kishtwar followed by “Mr. Kashmir” next month.

Moreover, a bodybuilding competition is slated to be held in the last week of October making way for winners to participate in Mr. India 2021-22 competition later this year in Ludhiana, Punjab.

Secretary Sports Council Nuzhat Gull has directed the concerned association to activate the district units across the union territory immediately.

She said that under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan” the concerned association will run a campaign across J&K and aware youth of the positive impact of a healthy lifestyle on the routine.

Nuzhat Gull said that the sports policy rolled out last year has made sports a good career option and bodybuilding as a sport offers twin benefits, one that it helps in maintaining good health, and two that athletes who excel in the field may earn a government job too.

Meanwhile, office bearers of the concerned association said that so far competitions for Mr. Jammu, and Mr. North India were organized earlier this year and Mr. India 2022-23 shall be held in March next year.
