Srinagar: Two AGuH terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces here on Wednesday, police said.
Based on specific inputs, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Dangerpora under the Nowgam police station area in the outskirts of Srinagar, a police official said.
During the operation, he said, the terrorists opened fire at the security forces. The security forces retaliated, triggering an encounter.
So far, two terrorists have been killed in the operation.
Police said that the killed terrorists were affiliated with Ansar Gazurul Hind (AGuH) terror outfit.
“Killed #terrorists were affiliated with #terror outfit AGuH & identified as Aijaz Rasool Nazar of Pulwama & Shahid Ahmad @ Abu Hamza. They were involved in recent #terror attack on an outside labourer namely Muneer ul Islam from West Bengal on 2/9/22 in Pulwama,” ADGP Kashmir said in a tweet.
With the killing of the two terrorists, the operation was called off, police said.
