GMC Baramulla make it to Quarter-Finals of Ist Corporate Cup 2022

Baramulla: GMC Baramulla won their second game today in the Ist Corporate Cup 2022 against Police 11 by 43 runs and made it to the quarter-finals.

Opting to bat first after winning the toss, they posted a total of 200 runs in twenty overs and lost eight wickets.

Opening the innings for GMC Baramulla, Kamil Bakshi scored a 100 in just 56 balls. He along with Dr. Zamir Ali went berserk against Police 11 bowlers and built a partnership of 51 runs in 4.4 overs. Kamil ended up scoring 107 runs, which helped his team set a mammoth target of 200 runs. Syed Amir also chipped in and scored a quick 28 in just 16 balls.  Mubeen Khan and Showket Ahamad were the leading wicket takers for Police 11, scalping 3 and 2 wickets respectively.

The opening batters of Police 11 could not stand the bowling attack of GMC Baramulla and were bundled for nought in the very first over by speed star Sajjad Majeed. Kamil Bakshi also contributed with the ball and picked 4 wickets, conceding just 16 runs in his four-over spell. Police 11 were bowled out for 157 runs. Waseem Syed was the highest scorer of Police 11 with 36 runs in 21 balls, followed by Hilal Khaliq (35), and Showket Ahmad (22).

Kamil Bakshi was adjudged man of the match for his all-round performance.

Principal GMC Baramulla Dr. (Prof.) Ruby Reshi congratulated the team for bringing laurels to the institute by continuing their winning streak and making it to the quarter-finals of the tournament.  Chief Selector Dr. Junaid Ahmad also congratulated the team and wished them luck for the future games.

“The way we are playing, I am confident that we will lift the title of the Ist Corporate Cup 2022,” said Coach GMC cricket team, Jahangir Bhat.
