Dagger Div in collab with Cycle Association J&K flags off Women’s Cycling Rally at Baramulla

Srinagar: A Women’s Cycling Rally was flagged off by Dagger Division in collaboration with Cycle Association Jammu & Kashmir from Shaukat Ali Stadium Baramulla on Sunday.

“The second edition of the annual event was marked by enthusiastic participation by ladies, both local as well as from all parts of the country. It marks a watershed moment in the history of Kashmir as the event is being conducted for the second consecutive time. This creates a platform for women to showcase their prowess in the field of cycling,” the organizers said.

“This year, a total of 150 women cyclists took part in the cycling rally, which included a total of 46 women from various places of Kashmir such as Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, and more than 100 women from cities like Chandigarh, Prayagraj, and Pune. They cycled all the way from Baramulla to Kaman Post, Uri covering a dist of 65 km in the arduous terrain of J&K,” they said.

The organizers further said: “The closing ceremony at Kaman Post evoked exuberant responses from the participants and locals alike. Senior military &civilian dignitaries include Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla, YSM, SM, VSM, GOC, 15 Corps, Maj Gen Ajay Chandpuria, VSM, GOC, 19 Inf Div, and Dr Syed SehrishAsgar, DC Baramulla graced the occasion with their presence.”

Speaking on the occasion, Lt Gen Amardeep Singh Aujla, YSM, SM, VSM GOC, 15 Corps lauded all the participants for their zeal and thanked them for making the event a big success. A special thanks to all the sponsors Hero Cycles, ICICI Bank, and Steadfast Nutrition who re-imposed their faith in us. The event symbolizes the close integration of the Indian Army with the locals and underlines its efforts toward women’s empowerment. The cyclists vowed to return again next year in more significant numbers, to further the deep bond forged with Kashmir & Indian Army.
