Div Com, ADGP inaugurate 1st edition of Kishtwar Cup T20 Cricket Tournament

KISHTWAR: To acknowledge the contribution of local Cricketers, the First Edition of Kishtwar Cup T20 Cricket Tournament was declared open by Divisional Commissioner, Ramesh Kumar and Additional Director General of Police(ADGP), Mukesh Singh, here on the Historic Chowgan Grounds.

The teams from across Jammu and Kashmir have been invited to compete in the tournament organised by Kishtwar Sports Federation in coordination with the district Administration.

The Div Com Jammu was the Chief Guest, while ADGP was the Guest of Honour at the inaugural event organised amid elaborate basic and security arrangements.

Among others present at the inaugural ceremony were DIG-DKR Range Dr Sunil Gupta; Commander 9 sector RR, Brig Samir Palande; SSP Kishtwar, Shafqat Hussain Bhat; ADDC Sham Lal; ADC Kishori Lal Sharma, Col joseph CO 26 RR, Col Ameya C 17 RR, President MC, Sajjad Ahmed Najjar; Ex-Minister Sunil Sharma; DDC members, PRIs, Prominent Persons, Senior Citizens, Sports fraternity of Kishtwar, Students besides other officers from Civil & Police administration, Army and Sports Department.

After the inauguration of the mega sports event, the Div Com & ADGP interacted with players and extended best wishes for their future endeavours.

The Div Com welcomed and congratulated the players participating in the tournament. He hailed the Kishtwar Sports Federation for its initiative to host the mega Sports event to harness local talent.

He maintained that such sports activities are imperative to foster communal Harmony, brotherhood and peace in the society and must continue to realise the dream of New Kishtwar being blessed with development and Harmony.

The ADGP, in his address, underscored the importance of holding sports events to provide an enabling platform for the youth to showcase their talent and keep them away from Drug Abuse in the district.

Other dignitaries also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the importance of games and sports in the personal and social life of individuals and urged the government to augment the sports infrastructure in the District so that young talent is honed effectively.

President Kishtwar Sports Federation, Shakir Saddique, while thanking the LG administration for providing time and cooperation in organising such a mega sports event in the District.

Besides, he complimented the Sports department, Army, District and Police Administration for extending every possible help in the successful organisation of the tournament.
