On day one of the championship, two matches were played. In the first game played between Titan Kashmir and Jagjeet Club Uplina, the latter trounced the former by 7:0. The defense of titan Kashmir was too weak to repel the attack of Jagjeet Club and the score could have been even worse for the titans but for their goalkeeper who made some good saves.

In the second encounter of the day, Kashmir University Team was pitted against Frontier Club. The match was in progress when the report was being filed.

On the last day of the 4-day Ice-Stock Championship played in Gindun Sports Complex Rajbagh competitions in the categories of team distance for women, men, girls, and boys were played today.

While Kupwara Growth Sports won the gold in team distance men, 4-Musquteers of Srinagar clinched gold in the women’s category. Likewise in boys’ team distance, Extreme Srinagar dominated their opponents while in the girl’s team distance event Growth Sports Kupwara got better of their opponents to bag gold.

The event was inaugurated by Secretary J&K Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul on 1st September 2022 as a part of the special sports initiative My Youth MY Pride.

Meanwhile, J&K athlete Abhijeet Singh continued with his winning streak and pocketed gold in the 200 meters U-20 category event in the ongoing North-Zone National Athletics Championship being held in Karnal Haryana.

The Secretary Sports Council congratulated the J&K athletics team including the coach, for putting up an exemplary show in the championship.

The playfields and cricket grounds remained active with a number of cricket championships across the union territory of J&K where one of the main attractions remains Gani Memorial Stadium in Srinagar’s Shehri-Khass which is hosting day and night cricket matches. The ground in the evening especially remains filled to its full capacity with the horde of spectators enjoying the match under floodlights.
