J&K logs 103 fresh Covid cases, one more death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 4,78,323 on Sunday with 103 fresh cases and the death toll increased to 4,783 as one more person succumbed to the disease, officials said.

Of the new cases, 87 were reported from Kashmir and 16 from Jammu, they said, adding the fresh COVID-related death was reported from Kashmir.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, they said in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported 39 cases, Anantnag reported 12 cases Baramulla, Kulgam and Kupwara reported nine cases each, Budgam five cases, Bandipora two, and Pulwama reported one fresh case.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported seven cases, Ramban five, Udhampur, Rajouri, Kishtwar and Poonch reported one fresh case each.

Currently there are 900 active COVID-19 cases in the union territory — 665 in Kashmir and 235 in Jammu division, the officials said.

So far, 4,72,640 people have recovered from the disease, while 4,783 have died – 2,433 in Kashmir division and 2,350 in Jammu division.

In the last 24 hours, 168 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 148 from Kashmir and 27 from Jammu division, after their recuperation.

Active Covid cases in India decline to 55,114

With 6,809 new coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s total tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,44,56,535, while the active cases declined to 55,114, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,27,991 with 26 fatalities which includes five deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.12 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.69 percent, the ministry said.

A decline of 1,631 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.12 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 2.29 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,38,73,430, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 213.20 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The 21 new fatalities include four from Maharashtra, three from Delhi, two each from Gujarat, Nagaland, Punjab and West Bengal.
