At least twenty teams had participated in the tournament in men’s and women’s categories. The winning title in the men’s category was lifted by IOT Zakura, while the DPES, which had organised the tournament, lifted the winning title in the women’s category.

Interacting with the student participants, Prof Nilofer hoped that more girl students will come forward to participate in sports activities and bring laurels at the national level.

She said the DPES is actively organising sports events involving students from across campuses and colleges which is an encouraging sign.

“You have to just participate. We assure to provide you with the best possible facilities for your training and participation,” she told the participating students.

Registrar Dr Nisar A Mir and Director IOT Zakura Campus were also present on the occasion.

Coordinator DPES Dr Mussavir Ahmad delivered the welcome address and gave a brief account of the hockey tournament.

Officials and coaches of DPES also attended the closing ceremony.
