Inaugural functions witnessed in all zones of Kupwara district

KUPWARA: The inauguration of cricket selection trials under LG’s Rolling Trophy took place in all the Zonal Headquarters of Kupwara District today.

The inaugural function at all the venues were witnessed by the respective PRIs and people in large numbers.

At Zonal Headquarters Langate, the Chairman DDC Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori inaugurated the cricket trials at Panditpura. BDC Chairpersons of Langate and Qaziabad, YS&S employees, and hundreds of youth were present at the occasion.

Addressing the function, the Chairman emphasized the role of sports and games in the overall personality development of youth and appealed to the youth to take an active part in these sports initiatives.

At the Zonal Headquarters of Sogam and Khumriyal, the function was inaugurated by Vice Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir.

DDC Member Sogam, Nasir Lone; District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Jatinder Singh and concerned BDC Chairpersons of the respective areas also witnessed the trials

Speaking at the occasion, the Vice Chairman DDC highlighted the importance of sports for the health and well-being of the youth adding that LG’s Rolling Trophy is a great initiative towards the well-being of the youth which shall also distance them from social evils like drug abuse.

The DYS&S Officer said that the trials which begin today will culminate on the 4th of September 2022. He said that after the culmination of the selection process, teams from all the Zones will participate in the District Level competition adding that the programme is an ambitious initiative for a talent hunt to provide an opportunity to young probables from all corners of the district.

He said that the registration process for the programme has already been completed. In the trials, participants between the age of 19 to 35 are taking part, he added.

It has been observed that participants are very enthusiastic.

At all the venues, speakers highlighted the importance of games and sports and stressed to the participants to exhibit discipline in all respects.
