National Sports day observed at GHSS Baramulla

BARAMULLA: The National Sports Day was today celebrated with great enthusiasm and fervor at Government Girls Higher Secondary School Baramulla wherein a large number of students participated and carried out various sports activities including Tug of War.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla,  Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar presided over the programme as chief guest, while as President Municipal Council Baramulla Touseef Raina also participated in the event.

Chief Education Officer Baramulla G.M Lone, District Social Welfare Officer besides other field officials of concerned departments were also present on the occasion.

After witnessing various sports activities showcased by the students, the DC appreciated their efforts and urged them to take part in all the sports activities.

Dr Sehrish assured them that the District Administration will provide every facility including upgradation of sports infrastructure for the youth so that they work with dedication and achieve the best in the sports field besides choosing it as their career avenue.

The DC while highlighting the importance of observing National Sports day said that on this day, people are encouraged to take some time out of their schedule to play their favorite sport and inculcate the habit of playing sports in daily life to keep themselves physically and mentally fit.

Later, the DC also interacted with students and extended her appreciation for their outstanding performance in sports and urged them to motivate others to inculcate sports habits in their lives.
