One injured in Nishat blast; IED recovered in Tral

Srinagar: One driver sustained splinter injuries in a mysterious low-intensity blast in Nishat area this evening while as his auto rickshaw also suffered some damages.

Police sources said that a low intensity blast occurred at the parking lot of Nishat Bagh Sunday evening injuring one Vilayat Hussain son of Bashir Ahmad Sofi of Saida Kadal, Srinagar and damaging his auto rickshaw.

They said that the blast could be of a small Chinese grenade.

Some eyewitnesses said that three more persons received minor injuries.

Meanwhile, an improvised explosive device (IED) has been recovered in Tral area of south Kashmir on Sunday evening.

Confirming the recovery, Kashmir Zone Police tweeted: “On a specific input of police, an IED, approx 10-12 Kgm has been recovered in Beihgund area of #Tral. Police and Army are on the job to destroy it insitu. A major #terror incident averted”.
