Rural areas across J&K participating enthusiastically in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign 

SRINAGAR: In a major departure from the past when Tricolour was only hoisted at District and Tehsil headquarters, this year it has become a movement in J&K with remote areas participating in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign enthusiastically and presenting a festive look.

The ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign was launched by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi recently. 

The Prime Minister had called upon all citizens to turn the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign into a mass movement by hoisting or displaying the national flag in their homes and using the Tricolour as a display picture on their social media accounts, to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence Day. 

From Kathua to Kupwara, people of J&K, particularly children are organizing rallies, waving Tiranga and are enthusiastically waiting for Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign under the aegis of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to encourage people to bring the Tiranga home and to hoist it on their housetops from 13 to August 15th.

The idea behind the initiative is to invoke the feeling of patriotism in the hearts of the people and to promote awareness about the Indian National Flag. 

Apart from flag hoisting on homes, people can also ‘Pin a Flag’ virtually at https://harghartiranga.com, along with posting a ‘Selfie with Flag’ on the site to mark the occasion.

The citizens of J&K including the public representatives are participating in the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign vigorously.

DDC Chairman Budgam, Nazir Ahmed Khan urged everyone to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign successful. “It is a moment to remind us of the sacrifices of our brave hearts for Independence,” he said.

Similarly, Wajahat Bukhari, Sarpanch of a Poonch village says that he always dreamt of raising flags on our houses and holding mass Tiranga rallies. “Now PM Modi fulfilled my dream with the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign,” he said.

The enthusiasm to participate in Har Ghar Tiranga is witnessed across the remote areas of J&K. Recently, in remote Kralpora, Machil area of Kupwara, students were joined by locals in carrying out a Tiranga rally. Students marched across villages with the slogans “Our Tiranga is our pride, it should fly high” and “Distances don’t matter when it is about Tiranga, our pride, and honor”.

A resident of Bela Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district stated that he is very happy with this decision of the government to give our flag the respect it deserves. 

Kupwara administration also ensured the “Har Ghar Tiranga” programme reaches last mile villages too under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, “Har Ghar Tiranga” Campaign.

Painting, National Anthem singing, essay competitions, quiz programmes, debates, and seminars are also being held in various Govt. Degree Colleges, schools besides, Tiranga Rallies, Flag hoisting on buildings, and homes are also being held across J&K as part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.

The spirit of the young generation is so high that they have started preparations for the event many days before with regular rehearsals. Students are proactively participating in rehearsals and events and are excited to perform in upcoming Independence Day commemorative functions. The school students are also taking part in the quiz, essay, painting, and debate competitions on varied topics of National Symbols, National Monuments, Freedom Struggle, and other related topics.

Meanwhile, the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) had launched the National Anthem Singing Competition -2022 for which entries were made open online between 1st to 7th, August, 2022.

Under this competition, the government had called upon the citizens of Jammu and Kashmir to take part in the national anthem singing competition by submitting their entries through a Google link.

Around 9000 online entries were received, with around fifty thousand people participating in the competition.

After a superb response to the first round, especially from South Kashmir districts for which the result will be declared by 15th August, the Government has announced the second round of the National Anthem Singing Competition 2022 from 9th to 15th August. 

Meanwhile, Jammu Administration is on its toes to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ event a grand success as 3.5 lakh Tricolors will be hoisted from August 13th to 15th  across the district.
