J&K reports 637 positive cases of Covid

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 637 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) which pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,72,011, officials said Thursday.

They said 525 cases were reported from Kashmir valley and 112 from the Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, the officials informed that in Kashmir division, Baramulla reported 178 cases, Srinagar district reported 174 cases, Budgam reported 58 cases, Kulgam reported 32 cases, Kupwara reported 28 cases, Pulwama reported 22 cases, Anantnag reported 16 cases, Bandipora reported nine cases, Ganderbal reported six cases and Shopian reported two fresh cases today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 65 cases, Kishtwar 13, Doda 11, Ramban reported six cases, Rajouri reported five, Samba four, Udhampur and Kathua reported three cases each, and Poonch reported two fresh cases today.

They also informed that 670 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals, including 496 from Kashmir division and 174 from Jammu division, in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

Currently there are 4,893 active positive cases in J&K – 3,971 in Kashmir valley and 922 in Jammu division, they said.

So far a total of 4,62,341 persons have recovered and 4,777 have died – 2,431 in Kashmir division and 2,346 in Jammu division.

Active Covid cases in country decline to 1,25,076

India logged 16,299 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of cases to 4,42,06,996 while the active cases declined to 1,25,076, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Thursday

The death toll climbed to 5,26,879 with 53 fatalities which includes four deaths reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.28 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.53 percent, the ministry said.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.94 percent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.90 percent, according to the health ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,35,55,041, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.19 percent.

According to the ministry, 207.29 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The 49 new fatalities include eight from Delhi, seven from Maharashtra, five each from Karnataka and West Bengal, four from Gujarat, three from Punjab, two each from Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Manipur, Rajastha, Tripura and Uttarakhand and one each from Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya, Odisha and Sikkim.
