Jammu: On the third anniversary of the unconstitutional and dictatorial decision of the BJP-led government to rob residents of Jammu and Kashmir of their special constitutional rights, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Friday held a massive demonstration at Jammu under the leadership of Amreek Singh Reen, general secretary of the party.

The demanded revocation of the unconstitutional decision taken on August 5, 2019, by abusing the majority in the Parliament.

The PDP leaders called August 5 a day of “mourning for Jammu and Kashmir” because, on this day in 2019, special rights of the residents of J&K were snatched.

“Today is a day of mourning for Jammu and Kashmir. BJP government started oppression, and barbarism in 2019. It is unfortunate that BJP is celebrating while Jammu and Kashmir is mourning. We will resist this,” PDP leaders said.

The Centre on August 5 2019 abrogated Article 370 which gave special status to the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir and bifurcated the region into two territories- Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. 

“Except promises, nothing has been achieved during the last three years,” they said and vowed to restore the special status of J&K with the support of the people.

While regretting that jobs and land rights have been opened for outsiders, PDP leaders said that the government came up with a domicile law for government jobs.

“If they open purchase of land to outsiders then where will we go? We demand that the land laws as agreed to by the Maharaja Hari Singh Ji should be implemented,” they said.

PDP leaders said that provisions of the state subject were introduced by late Maharaja Hari Singh Ji but the BJP-led government has snatched all such rights.
