J&K records 60 COVID-19 deaths, 4,788 fresh cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir recorded 739 fresh COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, raising the cumulative infection tally to 4,66,643, officials said.

While 543 cases were reported from the Kashmir valley, 196 cases were reported from the Jammu division, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive cases, they informed that in Kashmir division, Srinagar reported 235 cases, Baramulla reported 165 cases, Budgam 57 cases, Kupwara reported 28 cases, Anantnag reported 21 cases, Bandipora reported 16 cases, Kulgam reported 11 cases, Ganderbal reported five cases, Pulwama reported three cases, and Shopian reported two fresh cases today.

Similarly in Jammu division, Jammu district reported 129 cases, Rajouri 13, Kishtwar 12, Udhampur 11, Samba nine, Doda, Kathua  and Ramban reported six cases each and Poonch reported four cases. 

The death toll due to coronavirus was 4,773. No fresh death was reported from the union territory in the last 24 hours, the officials said.

Currently there are 4,940 active cases in J&K including 3,301 in Kashmir and 1,639 in Jammu division, while the number of recoveries has reached 4,56,930, they said, adding this also includes 645 COVID-19 patients who were discharged from various hospitals – 425 from Kashmir division and 220 from Jammu division – in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

So far the disease has claimed 4,772 lives in J&K – 2,429 in Kashmir division and 2,343 in Jammu division.
