‘AIM NITI Ayog to establish 500 more Tinkering Labs in J&K schools’

BUDGAM: The Mission Director Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) NITI Aayog New Delhi, Dr Chintan Vaishnav today visited Boys Higher Secondary School Budgam and chaired an interactive session with Principals and Headmasters of schools of Budgam.

The MD was accompanied by Deepali Upadhyay, Program Director, Atal Tinkering Labs, AIM; Prateek Deshmukh, Innovation Lead(AIM); Vishnu Priya Bijapur, Innovation Lead AIM and Sumaiya Yousuf, Media and Communications Lead Atal Innovation Mission Niti Aayog.

Among others, Naseer Ahmad Wani, Additional Secretary School Education Ata-ul Munim Tak, Personal Officer, Directorate of School Education Kashmir, Chief Education Officer, Budgam, Mushtaq Ahamd Qadri, Dy. CEO, ZEOs and other concerned were also present on the occasion.

During its visit to BHSS Budgam, the AIM Team inspected the Atal Tinkering Lab where creative students displayed their innovative models and briefed about challenges they faced while working on these innovations.

The MD lauded the students for their brilliant ideas and hard work. He said he was very impressed with J&K and has found J&K students one among the brightest students in the country.

On the occasion, students presented various cultural programmes and performed skits to create awareness for the promotion of creative and innovative attitudes among the student community.

Later, the MD along with AIM Team visited TRC Doodpathri where he interacted and held a threadbare discussion on the establishment and robust functioning of Tinkering Labs with Principals and school heads of Budgam.

Speaking on the occasion, the MD said that the Atal team has created over 10k Tinkering Labs all over India and hundreds of these have been also established in J&K schools.

He said the AIM is establishing more than 500 labs in J&K schools in the next few years to promote an innovative and creative mindset among J&K students. “We want to take this creative and innovative movement to all schools and provide these creative minds a platform to perform and showcase their talent,” said MD.

He said the aim is to encourage young minds in the field, and challenge students to become producers of products themselves instead of consumers.
