2 schools closed in Baramulla after 16 students, 2 teachers test positive for Covid-19

Baramulla: A primary school and a higher secondary school were closed in Baramulla after some of their staff and students tested positive for Covid-19 infection in the last few days.

Official sources said that two schools were closed after 18 persons including two teachers and 16 students tested positive at Government Higher Secondary School Bijhama Boniyar, while a female teacher in Government Primary School Shaltang also tested positive for Covid-19 infection.

“Out of the 150 tests carried out in the GHS Bijhama, reports of nearly 100 individuals were received today and as per it 16 students and two teachers have tested positive for the infection,” said an official.

Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Uri, Harvinder Singh said they have decided to keep the school closed for all sorts of activities on Saturday. “We also have also asked the department concerned to carry out fumigation of the school,” he said.

Meanwhile, Government School Shaltang Sheeri in Zone Fathegarh was closed after a female teacher tested positive.
