Srinagar: Police in Budgam have busted a gang of interstate carjackers by arresting four persons involved in the commission of crime.

“Acting on specific information, Police Station Khansahib Budgam busted a gang of inter-state carjackers/thieves and arrested 04 persons involved in the sale and purchase of stolen vehicles. The modus operandi of the arrested gang has been to smuggle the stolen vehicles from other states with fake and forged documents and selling the same to the locals at quite cheaper rates,” said police spokesperson.

“Accordingly a case vide FIR No. 112/2022 under relevant sections of the law has been registered at Police Station Khansahib and investigation initiated,” the spokesperson said.

“During the course of investigation, Police raided several locations and recovered 11 stolen vehicles having forged registration numbers and documents. The vehicles included 03 Maruti Swift cars, 02 Alto K-10, 02 Alto 800, 01 Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Verna and Hyundai Santro each,” he said.

“The arrested persons have been identified as Arshid Ahmad Ganie resident of Katich Razger, Muneer Ahmad Ganie resident of Khansahib, Mohd Shafi Dar resident of Razwan and Tanveer Ahmad Parray resident of Hawoora. Investigation into the case is going on and further arrests are expected in the said case,” he added.
