J&K reports 631 fresh positive cases of COVID-19

Srinagar: Recording another surge, Jammu and Kashmir reported 631 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours, officials said Sunday.

They said 367 of fresh cases were reported from Kashmir Valley and 264 from the Jammu division, which took the cumulative total of positive cases to 4,60,175.

Providing district-wise breakup for today’s positive, the officials informed that Srinagar district reported 220 cases, Jammu district reported 162 cases,  Baramulla reported 57 cases, Kupwara reported 27 cases, Udhampur reported 23 cases, Poonch reported 20 cases, Anantnag reported 19 cases, Budgam reported 18 cases, Ramban reported 13 cases, Rajouri and Kishtwar reported 11 cases each, Doda, Pulwama and Bandipora reported eight cases each, Kathua reported seven cases, Ganderbal reported six cases,  Reasi reported five cases, Samba reported four cases, while Kulgam and Shopian reported two cases each.

In the last 24 hours, officials said 193 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals after their recuperation, including 108 persons from Kashmir division and 85 from Jammu division.

Currently there are 3,239 active positive cases in J&K, including 1,726 in Jammu division and 1,513 in Kashmir. So far the disease has claimed 4,763 lives in J&K – 2,426 in Kashmir and2,337 in Jammu division.

India records 36 new Covid fatalities

With 20,279 new coronavirus infections being reported, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,38,88,755, while the active cases increased to 1,52,200, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,26,033 with 36 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.35 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.45 percent, the ministry said.

An increase of 2,100 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 5.29 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 4.46 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,32,10,522, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.20 percent.

According to the ministry, 201.99 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.

The 36 new fatalities include seven each from Kerala and West Bengal, five from Maharashtra, four from Himachal Pradesh, two each from Bihar and Jammu and Kashmir and one each from Assam, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Gujarat, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Pondicherry and Tripura.
