Srinagar: Police claimed to have arrested a drug peddler in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
“A Police party of Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint established at Punzwa crossing intercepted one person in a suspicious condition who tried to flee from the spot but was apprehended tactfully,” said a police spokesperson.
“During checking, officers were able to recover 04 grams of Brown Sugar like substance from his possession. He has been identified as Mohd Ismail Mir son of Mohd Sultan Mir resident of Cheerkote Vilgam. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody,” the spokesperson said.
“Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 83/2022 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been initiated,” he said.
