SHOPIAN: Deputy Commissioner, Sachin Kumar Vaishya and SP, Tanushree today inaugurated the Inter-District Provincial level Chess Championship for Boys of all age groups in an impressive function organised by District Youth and Sports Office, Shopian.
Besides, Joint Director, Youth Services & Sports, Kashmir Bashir Ahmad who was Guest of Honour on the occasion, Chief Education Officer, Shopian, Mohd Mushtaq and District Youth Services & Sports Officer, Noor Ul Haq were also present.
About 144 players from all the 10 districts are participating in the competition.
During the inaugural speech, Deputy Commissioner Shopian laid emphasis on the holistic development of personality which he said is possible through physical development.
He praised the department’s efforts to organise such grand provincial level tournament in district Shopian.
He said the championship shall inspire others to take part in sports activities for holistic personal development.
The Superintendent of Police also spoke on the occasion and advised the students to do their best in the competitions.
The Championship declared open by the Deputy Commissioner Shopian shall conclude on July 23.
Later on, Noor ul Haq District Youth Services and Sports officer Shopian delivered Vote of thanks and presented Momentos to the Guests.
