J&K logs 224 fresh COVID-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday reported 224 fresh COVID-19 cases that pushed the cumulative infection tally to 4,56,829, officials said.

Of the new cases, 112 each were reported from the Jammu division and the Kashmir valley, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, officials said that Srinagar district reported 88 cases, Jammu district reported 82 cases, Udhampur reported 11 cases, Kathua reported eight cases, Baramulla reported seven cases, Budgam, Doda and Poonch reported four cases each, Kupwara reported three cases, Pulwama and Ganderbal reported five cases each, Rajouri reported two cases, and Samba reported one case.

Currently there are 967 active COVID-19 cases in Jammu and Kashmir, including 564 in Jammu division and 403 in Kashmir, officials said.

So far, 4,51,104 people have recovered from the viral disease, the officials said, adding this includes 113 patients – 58 from Kashmir and 55 from Jammu division — who were discharged from various hospitals in the last 24 hours after their recuperation.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus, out of 4,56,829 positive cases recorded cumulatively in J&K so far, a total of 4,51,104 patients have recovered and 4,758 have died – 2,425 in Kashmir and 2,333 in Jammu division.

India records 20,044 fresh Covid cases, 56 deaths in a day

India’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 20,044 in a day to reach 4,37,30,071 while active cases increased to 1,40,760, according to Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.

The death toll has climbed to 5,25,660 with 56 more fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

Active cases increased by 1,687 in a day and now comprise 0.32 percent of the total infections while the national recovery rate is 98.48 percent, the ministry said.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 4.80 percent while the weekly positivity rate was 4.40 percent.

The total number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,30,63,651, while the case fatality rate was 1.20 percent.

According to the ministry, 199.71 crore Covid vaccine doses have been administered in the country.

Of the more fatalities, 27 are from Kerala, 10 from Maharashtra, five from West Bengal, two each from Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh and one each from Assam, Bihar, Karnataka, Punjab, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu and Uttarakhand.
