Leh: Ladakh reported three fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, taking the overall infection tally of the union territory to 28,573, officials said.

All fresh cases were reported in Leh, which over the last two months has seen a spurt in the number of infections, the officials said.

So far, 228 people have succumbed to COVID-19 in Ladakh.

Of these, 168 deaths were reported in Leh and 60 in Kargil, according to the officials.

There are 54 active cases in Ladakh, all of which are in Leh, they said.

A total of 3,728 people, including 2,080 air travellers, were screened for COVID-19 in Leh and Kargil districts on Saturday, they said.

Six people were discharged from hospitals in Leh after recovering from the infection.

With this, the total number of recoveries stands at 28,291, the officials said.
