J&K reports 146 COVID-19 cases, one death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 146 fresh  positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and one virus-related death in the last 24 hours, officials said Saturday.

They said 90 of the fresh cases were reported from Jammu division and 56 from Kashmir, which took the cumulative total of positive cases to 4,55,953.

One virus-related fatality was reported from Jammu division, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases for today, they informed that Jammu district reported 67 cases, Srinagar reported 45 cases, Udhampur reported nine cases, Ganderbal, Poonch and Budgam reported four cases each, Kathua and Baramulla reported two cases each, Samba reported six cases, Rajouri, Doda and Shopian reported one case each while as no other district reported any fresh case.

Moreover, 83 more COVID-19 patients have recovered and were discharged from various hospitals, including 59 from Jammu division and 24 from Kashmir, in the last 24 hours.

On vaccination, they informed that 5,898 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered across J&K to 2,33,90,534.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus, out of 4,55,953 positive cases recorded cumulatively thus far, currently there are 754 active positive cases in J&K, including 470 in Jammu division and 284 in Kashmir. Some 4,50,441 infected persons have recovered so far and 4,758 have died – 2,425 in Kashmir and 2,333 in Jammu division.

India records 18,840 Covid cases, 43 deaths in a day; active caseload rises by 2,693

India’s COVID-19 case tally rose by 18,840 in a day to reach 4,36,04,394 while the number of active cases increased to 1,25,028, according to Union Health Ministry data updated on Saturday.

The death toll has climbed to 5,25,386 with 43 more people succumbing to the viral disease, the data updated at 8 am stated.

Active caseload increased by 2,693 in a day and now comprise 0.29 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.51 percent, the health ministry said.

The daily positivity rate was 4.14 percent while the weekly positivity rate was recorded at 4.09 percent, according to the health ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,29,53,980, while the case fatality rate was 1.20 percent.

According to the ministry, 198.65 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far.
