Eight Yatris die in Baltal cloud burst: Police

Srinagar: At least eight yatris have died after a cloud burst hit Baltal area in Central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, a police spokesman said.

“The rescue operation is still going on and the injured persons have been airlifted for the treatment,” the police spokesman said.

“Teams of police, NDRF and SDRF besides security forces have been pressed into action in the ongoing rescue operation,” he said.

Earlier, police had said that “some langars and tents have come under cloud burst/flash floods at Holy Cave. “02 deaths reported. Rescue operation by Police, NDRF & SFs in progress. Injured being airlifted for treatment. Situation under control”.
