Comm Secy SWD inaugurates Child Care Institute for girls at Shopian

SHOPIAN: Commissioner Secretary Social Welfare Department (SWD), Sheetal Nanda, today visited Shopian and inaugurated Child Care Institute, One Stop Centre for Women at Old DC Office Complex here established under the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Deputy Commissioner Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya; Mission Director ICPS, Harvinder Kour; Additional District Development Commissioner Shopian, Manzoor Hussain; District Social Welfare Officer, Shopian, Showkat Ahmed and others concerned were present at the inauguration.

Speaking on the occasion, Commissioner Secretary highlighted the importance of imparting good and better quality education to the girls for a better future in society and stated that it is one of the most crucial steps for achieving long-lasting and sustainable development.

She said that we must always make sure that we provide quality education to the students and take measures for the safety and protection of those who need it.

She also requested the people of Shopian to join hands and lend their helping hands in looking after the newly established institutes.

SWD & Tribal Affairs along with Women & Child Development have been working continuously and relentlessly for the development and protection of infants, mothers and children, youth, older persons, persons with disabilities and tribal people, she said while applauding the Department of Social Welfare for their tremendous work.
