Varmul Victorians lift Kashmir Premier League trophy

Baramulla: In yet another initiative for carrying out constructive activities for the citizens and providing wings to the aspirations of young cricketers hopeful of donning the Indian blues, Kashmir Premier League, Baramulla Distt, was organised under the aegis of 46 Rashtriya Rifles (SIKH).

This initiative aimed to nurture the potential of hidden talents in cricket and provide a platform to the youth of the valley to showcase their talent and elevate India’s reputation in the field globally.

The T20 Cricket Championship was organised from June 01, 2022 to July 07,  2022. The zeal and enthusiasm of the youths was overwhelming and the same was visible with the number of participating teams. The Live update of all matches of tournament made available on ‘CRIC HEROES’ app for players and cricket enthusiasts.

The event witnessed 50 participants, 49 thrilling matches over a period of 35 days with ‘Varmul Victorians’ and ‘Pangong 11’ making in to the finals. In an enthralling final match between the finalists at Jhelum Stadium,Varmul Victorians won the match by 17 runs.

The event concluded on July 07, 2022 with the closing ceremony at Jhelum Stadium. The chief guest of this sporting extravaganza Maj Gen Ajay Chandpuria, VSM, GOC 19 Inf Div, felicitated the winning teams and the various award winners.

Other dignitaries included Brig SS Negi, 79 Mtn Bde, Colonel Prateek Sharma Commanding Officer 46 RR Battalion, Comdt Megha Raj, 53 CRPF Bn, Rayees Mohd Bhat (SSP Baramulla), Mushtaq (Ex Manager Sprots Council), Abdul Majeed (Manager Sports Council), Tauseef Raina (President Municipal Council), Umar Kakroo (Ex President Municipal Council) and Riyaz Nago (Ex President Municipal Council) were also present at the event.

In the closing address the chief guest encouraged the participants to make use of such golden opportunities and to derive maximum benefits out of the Sports events org by Indian Army. The youths appreciated the opportunity provided to them and thanked Army for organising the event. “These efforts by Indian Army will surely facilitate the new-age Kashmiri youths ready to pursue a life of dignity and achievement.”
