Div Com Kashmir reviews arrangements for Eid ul Adha

SRINAGAR: The Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole, today convened a meeting to make the arrangements for the ensuing festival of Eid ul Adha regarding the availability of sacrificial animals and essential commodities for public consumption.

While reviewing the Eid arrangements, Div Com directed DCs of Kashmir Division to establish sale centers where people can purchase the sacrificial animals.

He directed them to constitute the teams comprising various departments including Food and Civil Supplies, Drugs & Food Control Organization, Police, Revenue and Legal Metrology which shall be deployed at sale centers to ensure the quality of animals and compliance with fixed rates.

The meeting was informed that 13 sale centres shall be established in Srinagar to make sacrificial animals available to the people.

Meanwhile, the Div Com directed concerned departments to conduct market checking to ensure the quality of food items like bakery, meat, poultry and other consumable commodities besides, he also directed to take strict action against overcharging and illegal profiteering by traders.

Div Com asked Commissioner SMC and Director Urban Development Department to ensure sanitation of places where large congregation prayers shall be held including Shrines and Mosques in Srinagar.

Moreover, he gave directions to PDD and PHE to maintain a constant supply of electricity and water to the general public during the ensuing festival days. 

Further, he asked RTC officers to make transport arrangements for devotees from Lal Chowk to Hazratbal who will offer Namaz at Shrine.

Police authorities were instructed to ensure proper security arrangements during the festivity days.

Among others, the meeting was attended by DCs, Commissioner SMC, ADCs, SSPs, Director Sheep Husbandry, Director FCS&CA, Director Animal Husbandry, Deputy Director Information, officers of PHE, R&B, Animal Husbandry, Traffic, Waqf Board and other officers.
