The chief guest, Safeena Beigh while addressing the people said that the recent announcement made by the Union government regarding the allotment of funds for the Srinagar-Baramulla National Highway is a welcome step which was the long pending demand of the Public. She said that this step of present dispensation at the central level will not only prove the ease in the journey but also will have a greater economic impact on the lives of the people.

She further said that since the empowerment of the Panchayati Raj in the JKUT, the people are conveying their issues and demands at their doorsteps thus the development is seen at the grassroots level.

The Deputy Commissioner while speaking on the occasion said that the Block Diwas programmes are held in JKUT only wherein the district administration conducts such programmes to take a firsthand appraisal of all issues at the doorsteps of the people. She also said that grievance redressal camps have played a vital role in bringing the people and government together where everyone is able to put forth his demands and accordingly concerned departments respond to the issues and demands.

Further, the DC said that accountability and transparency has been bred into the system through the Block Diwas mechanism and she is hopeful that people will continue to utilise this platform for putting forth genuine grievances so that the administration will subsequently redressal all the demands and grievances of the people in a time-bound manner.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Commissioner assured them that all their issues and demands shall be taken with the concerned authorities for their timely redressal for which on-spot directions were also passed to the concerned officers in this regard.
