On the occasion, the Commissioner Secretary while emphasizing the historical importance of the pilgrimage mentioned that Shri Amarnathji Yatra exemplifies the communal harmony and brotherhood of Kashmir and, as such, it is expected that, apart from the general public, the grassroots level leaders welcome the pilgrims whole-heartedly and also play their role towards making the auspicious journey of the pilgrims, hassle-free, so that the message they take back home is of love and peace.

It was informed that although the Governmental machinery is working 24X7 for putting in place all the requisite arrangements, yet the involvement of the representatives from all the three-tiers will send a good signal among the pilgrims who are on pilgrimage from across the length and breadth of the country.

Besides, detailed discussion and deliberations were held with regard to the systems put in place for garbage collection and disposal, installation of fabricated toilets and color-coded dustbins to segregate biomedical, biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes during the Yatra, to maintain cleanliness.

The elected representatives also expressed their enthusiasm towards ensuring the smooth conduct of the Yatra which they said was resuming after a hiatus of 2 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

While appreciating the efforts put in place by the officers of the department, the Commissioner Secretary directed the officers present on the occasion to carry out intensive awareness campaigns en route the Holy Cave by way of installing banners/hoardings at all the prominent places. It was emphasized that the association of elected representatives in the efforts of the government would be of immense help and should be properly garnered.
