J&K logs 56 cases of COVID-19, one death

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir reported 56 fresh positive cases of novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the last 24 hours which took the cumulative infection tally to 4,54,798, while one more infected person succumbed to the disease, officials said Sunday.

Of the fresh cases, they said 43 were reported from Jammu division and 13 from Kashmir, while the fresh death was also reported from the Jammu division.

Providing district-wise breakup for these positive cases, they said that Jammu district reported 37 cases, Srinagar reported seven cases, Samba and Anantnag reported three cases each, Kulgam reported two cases, Udhampur, Kathua, Pulwama and Poonch reported one case each, even as no other district across the Union Territory reported any fresh case.

They also informed that 28 COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals after their recuperation – 18 from Jammu division and 10 from Kashmir.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) was reported today, they said, adding that so far UT has recorded 51 confirmed cases of this infection.

On vaccination, they informed that 2,220 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,32,37,133.

Out of 4,54,798 positive cases of the disease recorded cumulatively in J&K so far, currently there are 321 active positive cases in the UT, including 212 in Jammu division and 109 in Kashmir. So far 4,49,721 persons have recovered and 4,756 have died – 2,425 in Kashmir and 2,331 in Jammu division.

Active COVID-19 cases in country rise to 92,576

India logged 11,739 new coronavirus infections taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,33,89,973, while the active cases rose to 92,576, according to the Union Health Ministry data updated on Sunday.

The death toll climbed to 5,24,999 with 25 new fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The active cases comprise 0.21 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was 98.58 percent, the ministry said.

An increase of 797 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at 2.59 percent and the weekly positivity rate at 3.25 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease surged to 4,27,72,398 while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.21 percent.

According to the ministry, 197.08 crore doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

The 25 new fatalities include 10 from Kerala, six from Delhi, four from Maharashtra, two from West Bengal and one each from Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan.
