Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday reported 40 new COVID-19 cases, raising the cumulative infection tally to 4,54,585, while one more death pushed the fatality count to  4,755, officials said.

Twenty-two cases were reported from the Jammu division and 18 from the Kashmir Valley, they said.

Providing district-wise breakup for positive cases for today, they informed that Jammu district reported 16 cases, Srinagar district reported 11 cases, Kulgam reported four cases, Udhampur reported two cases, Samba and Budgam reported three cases each and Kathua reported one case, while no other district across the Union Territory reported any fresh case.

The fresh death was recorded in Kashmir, the officials added.

Currently there are 209 active Covid cases in the union territory – 131 in Jammu division and 78 in Kashmir– while the overall recoveries have reached 4,49,621. This includes 15 more patients who were discharged from various hospitals — 12 from Jammu division and three from Kashmir — in the last 24 hours, they said.

No new case of Mucormycosis (black fungus) has been reported today, they said.

On vaccination, they informed that 5,507 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 2,32,00,413.

According to the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus (Covid-19), out of 4,54,585 positive cases recorded cumulatively in J&K, so far 4,49,621 person have recovered and 4,755 have died – 2,425 in Kashmir and 2,330 in Jammu division.
