3rd District Kupwara Pencak Silat Championship commences

Srinagar: The 3rd Pencak Silat District Kupwara Championship 2022-23 is being held at Town Hall Kupwara from 18th-19th of this month.

The event is sponsored by Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and organised by District Kupwara Pencak Silat Association under the aegis of Pencak Silat Association of J&K.

The event is part of the ongoing special sports initiative ‘My Youth My Pride’ which has so far brought thousands of players under its fold.

Around 150 athletes from different schools and clubs are participating in four age groups which includes Pre-teen boys and girls, sub junior and junior boys and girls, besides senior Men and women players.

Divisional Sports Officer (C) J&K Sports Council, Nusrat Gazala presided over the function as chief guest. While interacting with the players and officials, she said these events go a long way in shaping and securing the athletic career of players.

Among others present on the occasion were Manager indoor sports complex Kupwara Khazir Mohammad, Major Gaurav Dutta and Dawood Ahmad Peer, National Secretary, J&K Students Association.
