J&K logs 25 fresh COVID-19 cases

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir’s COVID-19 tally rose to 4,54,391 on Wednesday as 25 more people tested positive for the viral disease, officials said.

The death toll remained unchanged at 4,752 – so far 2,424  persons have died in Kashmir division and 2,328 in Jammu division, they said.

Of the fresh cases, 13 were reported from the Jammu division and 12 from the Kashmir division, the officials said, adding that all these cases were reported from Jammu and Srinagar districts while no other district reported any fresh case.

Currently there are 113 active COVID-19 cases in the Union territory – 80 in Jammu division and 33 in Kashmir — while the number of recoveries stands at 4,49,526, they said.

Moreover,11 more COVID-19 patients were discharged from various hospitals after their recuperation ; this includes four persons from Jammu division and seven from Kashmir division.

On COVID vaccination, the daily media bulletin on novel coronavirus informed that 2,816 doses of COVID vaccine were administered in the last 24 hours bringing the cumulative number of doses administered so far across J&K to 23,15,67,29.

With 8,822 fresh coronavirus infections being reported in a day, India’s tally of COVID-19 cases rose to 4,32,45,517 on Wednesday, while the count of active cases increased to 53,637, according to Union Health Ministry data.

The death toll due to the disease has climbed to 5,24,792 with 15 fatalities being reported in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am stated.

The count of active cases now comprises 0.12 percent of the total infections, while the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98.66 percent, the health ministry said.

An increase of 3,089 cases has been recorded in the active COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours, the data showed.

The daily positivity rate was recorded at two percent and the weekly positivity rate at 2.35 percent, according to the ministry.

The number of people who have recuperated from the disease has surged to 4,26,67,088, while the case fatality rate was recorded at 1.21 percent, as per the data.

According to the ministry, 195.5 crore vaccine doses have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive.

Fifteen new fatalities due to the disease were reported in the country – seven from Kerala, four from Maharashtra, two from Delhi and one each from Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan.
