AAAM Degree College Bemina emerges winner of Inter-College Cricket Tournament for Boys 2021-22

SRINAGAR: The AAAM Degree College Bemina today beat IASE College of Education by 45 runs in the finals of the Inter-College Cricket Tournament Boys 2021-22 organised by the Cluster University Srinagar.

The tournament was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor Prof. (Dr.) Qayyum Husain in the month of November 2021, in which all the constituent and affiliated colleges participated and was played on knock-out basis with the first semi-final played between S.P College and IASE College of Education, in which latter booked its place in the finals of the tournament.

In the second Semi-final, AAAM Degree College Bemina booked its place in the final by defeating A.S College. However due to inclement weather and some unavoidable circumstances the final match remained pending and was played today in the A.S college ground.

IASE college of Education after winning the toss decided to bowl first. In the allotted overs, Bemina College managed 110 runs on the board for the loss of 10 wickets. Auznain scored 34 runs and Rayees Ahmad bowled an extra-ordinary spell of 4 overs and took 3 crucial wickets.

In reply, IASE college of College was bundled out at 65 runs. Auzanin took 3 wickets while Aqib and Junaid took 2 wickets each.

For an all-round performance of 34 runs and 3 wickets, Auznanin was adjudged as Man of the match while Aqib was proclaimed as Man of the Tournament with his brilliant overall performance of 185 runs and 12 wickets.

The Vice Chancellor CUS Prof. (Dr.) Qayyum Husain and Prof. (Dr.) Sheikh Javaid, Former Vice Chancellor CUS chaired the presentation cum felicitation ceremony as Chief Guest and Guest of Honor respectively,

Vice Chancellor, who was the chief guest on the occasion said that the university will provide an opportunity to the sportspersons from constituent and affiliated colleges of the university to showcase their talent at national and international level and appreciated the efforts put in by the Secretary Sports and Physical Education Staff of the constituent colleges.

Former and Founding Vice Chancellor of CUS, Prof. Sheikh Javaid on the occasion expressed his good wishes to the budding players and emphasized the developments of the CUS.

The other notable personalities who graced the occasion include Dean Academic Affairs, Prof. (Dr.) Mushtaq Ahmad Lone, Registrar Prof. (Dr.) Khurshid Ahmad Mir, Secretary Sports CUS, Prof. Tariq Ashai. Nodal Principal Kashmir Division Colleges Prof. (Dr.) Khurshid Ahmad, Prof. Mir Mashooq Special Guest of the occasion, Principles of Constituent and affiliated colleges, Deans of various facilities of CUS, sports committee members of various colleges and other respected dignitaries of CUS.

Besides the award ceremony of Inter-college cricket tournament for Boys 2021-22, felicitation ceremony for the players who participated in the All-India Inter-University Pencak Silat Competition at University of Jammu was also held.

Seven students of different constituent colleges represented the CUS in the said tournament and brought laurels to the University by winning two bronze medals in the very debut at Inter-University level.
