Jashn-e-Gurez: District Wushu Championship Bandipora commences at Gurez

BANDIPORA: A two-day Wushu Championship being organised by District Wushu Association Bandipora under the guidelines of J&K Wushu Association commenced today in Dawar, Gurez of Bandipora.

The Mega Sports event was declared open by Chief Guest, Principal Higher Secondary School Dawar, Abdul Majeed Dar along with Guest of Honour, Abdul Qayoom Bhat Director Mountaineering Institute Bandipora ASA (International Mountaineer).

The Championship is the part of Mega Sports Festival Gurez 2022 (Jashn-e-Gurez) in which more than 290 players including boys as well as girls are participating.

Speaking on the occasion, Chief Guest lauded the efforts of District Wushu Association Bandipora and J&K Wushu Association for providing the opportunity and a platform to the youth of Gurez Valley to prove their mettle at the national and international level in Wushu.

He said, Youth of Gurez Valley are immensely talented and they deserve more opportunities to exhibit their talent and bringing events to Gurez Valley shall help in realising the dream of players waiting in wings.

The event witnessed overwhelming participation of people from Gurez Valley and locals thanked District Wushu Association Bandipora and J&K Wushu Association for creating such Sports atmosphere and opportunities for this sport in Gurez Valley.

On behalf of District Wushu Association Bandipora, Padma Shri, Faisal Ali Dar thanked all Departments for their full cooperation, coordination and sports-friendly measures adopted by the District Administration, Indian Army, Department of Youth Services & Sports, Education Department and JK Tourism by making this event successful.
