PIB holds daylong workshop ‘VARTALAP’ at Baramulla

BARAMULLA: The Press Information Bureau (PIB) Srinagar today organized a day-long workshop, ‘VARTALAP’ an interactive session for print and electronic media persons of District Baramulla at Dak Bungalow here.

The workshop was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Dr Syed Sehrish Asgar in presence of Additional Director General, Press Information Bureau Srinagar, Rajendra Choudhary.

The objective of organizing the workshop is capacity building of rural journalists so that a smooth information flow system is developed between PIB and Journalists of rural areas and to obtain valuable feedback from these journalists on various matters.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC said that media is a powerful tool that works as a torchbearer for the administration to look into the loopholes in the society. She said that it is the best tool for outreaching, information exchange and downward communication, which helps in a better public delivery system.

The DDC said that media persons are working in a tough and hard situation, especially in rural areas and need encouragement.

She congratulated PIB Srinagar for holding an interactive media workshop at Baramulla and hoped that such a workshop may be conducted in the future also.

Deputy Director, Press Information Bureau, Srinagar Ghulam Abbas also spoke on the occasion and said that the workshop is an offshoot of PIB’s media outreach strategy to disseminate information to the targeted beneficiaries of the government’s development schemes focusing on the flagship programme of the Government of India.

On the occasion, various media professionals delivered lectures and shared valuable experiences.

Heads of Various departments including Professor IUST Awantipora, Prof. Ruheela Hassan, and District Social Welfare Officer Baramulla, spoke on the issue and presented detailed information regarding their departmental schemes.

Meanwhile, a question-answer session was also held in which experts answered the queries of journalists.
