Indian Army organises ‘Debate On Democracy’ at Badami Bagh Cantonment

Srinagar: As part of ‘Make A Change’ series of debates and discussions in Kashmir, the Indian Army on Monday organised first-of-its kind ‘Debate On Democracy’ at the National Integration camp of Bharat Scouts & Guides held at Badami Bagh Cantonment.

“Approximately 100 students of three states of Punjab, Haryana & Jammu & Kashmir, part of the National Integration camp of Bharat Scouts & Guides participated in the event,” said PRO (Defence) Srinagar.

“The young minds put across their views on democracy, fundamental rights, role of Media, Majority rule and issues like equality in the context of prevailing democracy in India. They also spoke about challenges and way ahead for Democracy to flourish in India in general and Kashmir in particular,” the PRO said.

“The students were also given deep insight into the Indian freedom struggle. They were informed about various initiatives and celebrations related to ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ in the 75th Year of Independence. The students also visited Ibbadat-e-Shahadat Museum, wherein they were briefed on the bravery, sacrifices and stories of our bravehearts,” he said.
