The Bicycle Rally started from Gurah Slathia and ended at Brig. Rajinder Park, Bagoona, – the iconic place of Jammu & Kashmir, and concluded back at War Memorial, Gurah Slathia. More than 90 cyclists participated in the Bicycle Rally.

The main motive of the programme was to spread the message to protect the environment from the pollution caused by motor vehicles on a global scale every day.

In his address, the MP Jugal Kishore Sharma said that promoting cycling in a country with a large population like ours will promote fitness and environmental protection measures. “This will also solve problems like traffic jams, increasing tension in the society, and road rage to a large extent,” he added.

Highlighting its health benefits, the MP said that cycling can cure cardiovascular problems, add to the muscle strength and flexibility, improve joint mobility, decrease stress levels, improve posture and coordination, strengthen bones, decrease body fat levels,  prevent and manage diseases. “Bicycle don’t release harmful emissions that pollute the atmosphere, nor any carbon dioxide that contributes to climate change, Harmful Chemicals are reduced, More Bikes Equals Fewer Roads, Noise is also Pollution,” he added. He also appreciated the youth for participating in such kinds of activities and the work done by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Jammu for the uplift of Youth and Nation Building.
