3 LeT militants killed in Kupwara Gunfight
Kupwara: Three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jumagund village of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Thursday morning.
A senior police offcer told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), that based on a specific input developed by Kupwara Police regarding infiltration attempt of militants in Jumagund village an encounter has started when the infiltrating militants were intercepted by Army & Police.
“During exchange of gunfire all three Lashkar-e-Taiba militants were killed which is being carried out without any collateral damage by security forces, ” he said.
He said that the police also recovered incriminating materials, arms and ammunition from the site of encounter while identification of the killed militants is being ascertained.
This is the second encounter in north Kashmir in less than 24 hours. On Wednesday three foreign militants of the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) outfit and a policeman were killed in a chance encounter with the security forces at Baramulla district—(KNO)
