Interacting with the participating players, including girl students, Prof Nilofar urged greater participation of female students in the such tournaments.

She impressed upon the female participants to motivate their friends and colleagues to join sports activities and bring laurels to the University which is expanding its sports infrastructure in a big way.

She said along with their academic progression, the University will ensure mental and intellectual upliftment of its students by engaging them in different extracurricular activities for their overall personality development.

“I will provide incentive to female students for their active participation in sports events and also facilitate their participation in various sports events,” the VC said.

Registrar Dr Nisar Ahmad Mir also spoke on the occasion and complimented the DPES for organising sports activities within and outside the University regularly.

Earlier, Director DPES Prof Showkat Ahmad Shah welcomed the Vice-Chancellor and Registrar.

He also presented a detailed account of sports activities being organised by the DPES in coming months.
