Srinagar: Former Cabinet Minister and Apni Party senior vice-president Ghulam Hassan Mir on Tuesday urged the government to ensure the stalled wages of casual labours, who are engaged in the Department of Command Area Development (CAD) of agriculture, are released immediately.

According to a press statement issued here, a delegation of casual labours called on Gulam Hassam Mir today at Apni Party headquarters in Srinagar and requested him to raise their issue of halted wages with the concerned authorities. The members of the delegation informed Apni Party leader that they along with their families are suffering because of delays in their wages.

On this, Gulam Hassan Mir has appealed to the concerned authorities to release the pending salaries to these poor workers. He said that the way other departments are paying the wages to workers without any hindrance, these workers too should be paid their wages on time. He urged the concerned official to utilize the various government schemes to ensure these poor fellows get their dues.

The delegation informed Apni Party leader that earlier they too would draw their wages under the projects that are being executed, but now the process has been stopped and casual labours eventually are forced to suffer.

Mir said that those who are at the helm of affairs must understand that these poor labours live hand to mouth, and stopping their wages means causing miseries to them and their families.
