Govt committed to channelize sports talent of J&K youth: Alok Kumar

Samba: “The Department of Youth Services & Sports is committed to provide opportunities to students and non-students of J&K to participate in games and sports for their physical and mental well-being and every possible step is being taken to channelize the talent of J&K Youth,”  this was stated by Principal Secretary Youth Services & Sports J&K, Alok Kumar while speaking to a group of more than 150 boys and girls, field staffers of the Department.

Principal Secretary stressed upon the youth to avail maximum from the unique opportunity while remaining very close to nature. He also passed on some important directions to the escorting staffers to provide the best possible  sports facility to every youth of the society to get the benefits of the sports policy implemented by the j&k Government.

Pertinently 150 girls and boys of U/12 and U/19  age groups selected from different Government and private Schools of Samba district participated in “MY YOUTH MY PRIDE” initiative  of J&K Sports Council.

Earlier, additional Secretary Youth Services and Sports Department Rakesh Kumar also interacted with the budding youth of Guraha Slathia and shared his personal experiences with them. He also appreciated the contributions of Virpartap Singh in raising the guidance and counselling cell for youth development at village level.

Neemami slathia 9th Standard student of Govt. GHS Gurha slathia looked very enthusiastic about such initiatives of the Govt.  She said it inculcates a sense of discipline and helps a person in so many ways. She hoped that the Government would organise more and more sports events like Khelo India and My Youth My Pride for the overall development of the young generation.

On the occasion, Ashok Singh Divisional sports officer Jammu was also felicitated by Guidance and counselling cell for youth development Gurha slathia with appreciation letter for his best contribution to the youth of J&K UT in games and sports.

The vote of thanks was presented by Col. Jaswant Singh who thanked the visiting dignitaries for sharing their experiences with budding youth of a small village.

Sudarshan Singh DDC Member, Baljinder Pal Singh Manager sports stadium Samba, Dhanraj Singh physical master, coaches, staff from Sports Council, sports lovers, players and general public were also present at the venue.
