Expressing concern over the recurring incidents of fire in Kashmir, particularly Srinagar, Gul said that the recurrence of such devastating fires have had the people on tenterhooks. “Different  government agencies should take an assortment of initiatives to prevent the recurrence of fires, there is a serious lack of clear and comprehensive policy about how to assess the hazards and how to manage them. We have been hearing about safety audits of all shrines in Kashmir. Years have passed since, nothing has been done to enhance the safety of our revered shrines, government hospitals, schools, colleges and densely populated areas. What are the concerned agencies doing?,” he asked.
